How to keep Leather Clothing And Footwear Clean and polished

recently I have been telling you about Heritage Leathercare and its' various uses and I am now going to tell how to use it on clothing and footwear.Heritage Leathercare is ideal for use on leather clothing (jackets, skirts, trousers, etc) particularly Motor Bike Leathers. It is also ideal for leather boots (riding boots, work boots, etc) and shoes As it is colourless Heritage Leathercare can be used on any colour although white or similar light colours, may need to be cleaned first. Simply wipe over with a soapy cloth, paying special attention to areas where there is a buildup of marks. Ensure your leather is totally dry and you are then ready. On darker colours your Heritage will clean as it polishes. Take your sponge (provided) and wipe over the surface of your Heritage Leathercare, removing any surplus by wiping on the inside edge of your container. You then simply wipe over your leather in circular motions, ensuring your leather is not greasy (if it is then just buff up using a clean and dry soft cloth). How do I keep my leather suite looking good?

Since I last posted I received a phone call from a couple who wanted help with caring for their leather suite. They asked me about Heritage Leathercare and was it suitable, mentioning in passing that their suite was new and they were looking for help to keep it looking like new. Heritage Leathercare (also known as Celtic Leathercare) feeds, polishes and protects leather and leaves a water resistant finish It is also colourless so can be used on any colour. Another advantage of Heritage is that it will also clean most colours although white and similar pale colours may, need washing first. To do this, wash with pure soap (Simple Soap,Dreft, soap flakes, etc.) and dry thoroughly making sure your leather is totally dry before applying your Heritage. Heritage Leathercare is very easy to use.Using the sponge provided, wipe it across the surface of the polish and remove any excess by wiping across the inside edge of the tub. Then apply to your leather by wiping very sparingly, in circular motions. On completion, your leather should not be greasy to the touch. If it is greasy, buff it up using a clean, dry and soft cloth.To keep your leather furniture in a supple condition and looking good it is recommended that you apply your Heritage Leathercare 3 or 4 times per year as a minimum. Have you tried Heritage Leathercare? Part 2

In my last post I introduced you to Heritage Leathercare. This is a great product that is so easy to use!

Heritage Leathercare feeds, polishes, protects leather leaving a water resistant finish and will also clean most colours. It is ideal for use on leather furniture, leather car seats and interiors, leather clothing (jackets, skirts, etc.), leather footwear (including leather fashion boots and football boots), leather cases (brief cases and suitcases) and handbags, etc., and being colouless, can be used on any colour. We DON'T recommend its use on suede, nubuck or nappa leathers.

Heritage Leathercare will clean most colours but for use on white and similar pale colours we do suggest washing first. This is best done with pure soap (baby soap, Simple Soap, soap flakes, Dreft, etc.) Use a clean, colourfast cloth that has been soaked in your soapy solution and squeezed out so it is not dripping wet. Wipe over your leather to remove grease and grime and then wipe off the soapy solution using a clean cloth . Make sure your leather is totally dry before using your Heritage Leathercare. As already stated, washing is only needed on white and similar pale colours

Using the sponge provided, wipe over the surface of your Heritage and remove any surplus by scaping your sponge on the inside edge of your tub. All you need do now is wipe in cicular motions making sure your leather is not left greasy. If it is. buff up using a soft, clean cloth, otherwise you do not need to do so. And that is it, job done!

Can I clean all the different finishes in my kitchen with the same product?

Another query I had concerned the use of Heritage Woodcare (sometimes known as Celtic Woodcare) in the kitchen.

I have told you how it is ideal for use on your furniture,how it cleans ( including the removal of grease and grime, nicotine buildup, ring marks, etc.) and polishes at the same time. Well, in your kitchen it will remove all that same buildup - the grease, the grime, the ring and water marks, etc.

Every time we cook we are releasing water and grease into the atmosphere. This then settles on work surfaces, cupboards, cooker hoods, even the floor. Regular washing of the floor keeps it clean and grease free, thus safe to walk on. Heritage Woodcare will do a similar job on your work surfaces and cupboards and will also remove most of the water marks that will gather round your cooker, sink, kettle, etc. Use your Heritage to clean your work surfaces, cupboard doors, etc. It also gives excellent results on your washing machine and dishwasher!

Use it in the usual way, (see my previous post). You can also use it on your cooker hoods to remove the dried on grease. When preparing your cloth and having squeezed it out out, do not then ring it out but leave it reasonably damp, wipe over the cooker hood last thing at night. Do this for about a week and the oils in your Heritage will gradually penetrate the dried on grease meaning you will eventually just wipe it off.

How do I remove years of neglect (buildup of grease, grime and nicotine) from my bedroom furniture

I'm back after a family crisis!

During my absence, I received an email from a reader who was having some problems sorting out some bedroom furniture she has recently aquired. Aparently, using one of the freecycle websites, she was given a bedroom suite (drawers, dresser and wardrobe) for her daughter who is just setting up home. She was told that the furniture was in a bit of a state and would need cleaning but wasn't quite prepared for how much work would be needed. She went online for some advice and came across this blog and has emailed me for some advice.

From her description of the condition of the furniture it just needed a thor0ugh clean as, apart from being dirty, there didn't appear to be much wrong. The dirt appeared to be years of neglect - dust, grease and nicotine. I advised her that Heritge Woodcare should do the job but may need more than one application.

Heritage Woodcare is very easy to use. Give your bottle a thorough shake, pour some into a container, take any soft, clean cloth and soak in the polish, squeeze and wring the cloth out till it is damp dry and pour the excess polish back into your bottle. You are now ready.

All you do now is wipe, following the grain. Should the result be streaky or patchy, more than one application will be needed, otherwise the job is done and there is no need to buff up.
