Can I use Heritage Leathercare on wood?

Did YOU know that you can use Heritage Leathercare on wood? Well, you can!

Being a beeswax based balsom, it is really good and leaves a brilliant shine. You do, however, need to buff it up!

I was called to have a look at some problems in a church. The church had recently undergone some restoration but some areas of wood (panelling and pews) appeared to be much lighter, almost to having lost their colour. I tried Heritage Woodcare which certainly removed grime and did put some colour in but not really enough. I then tried a coloured (brown) leather balsom but this did not really do much at all. My last attempt was with Heritage Leathercare. To my surprise this really did the trick. The colour was restored and the problem area was indistinguishable from the surrounding wood.

I also have some coffee tables with a leather insert. These are really easy to clean with Heritage Leathercare. I am able to use the one product on both the leather and the wood surrounds but, as I have said, I do need to buff the wood up.

Heritage (or Celtic) Leathercare - what is it?

Heritage Leathercare (sometimes known as Celtic Leathercare) - an Irish product with a difference! Have you tried it yet? Do you know how good it is ? - that it is probably the best? Do you know that it is very easy to use? Do you know you can use it on your leather furniture, leather car seats and interiors, leather clothing and footwear, etc. ?

In this post I will tell you something about it.Made in their Dublin facility by Drigate Products, Heritage Leathercare is a traditional 19th century leather balsam containing original, old fashioned ingredients including beeswax. How do I clean and condition leather clothing (e.g. motor bike leathers) and footwear

In my recent posts I have been telling you about Heritage Leathercare (sometimes known as Celtic Leathercare) and its' various uses in response to queries posed I am now going to tell how to use it on clothing and footwear.

Heritage Leathercare is ideal for use on leather clothing (jackets, skirts, trousers, etc - including Motor Bike Leathers). It is also ideal for leather boots (riding boots, work boots, fashion boots etc) and shoes

As it is colourless Heritage Leathercare can be used on any colour although white or similar light colours, may need to be cleaned first. If cleaning is needed simply wipe over with a damp soapy cloth, paying special attention to areas where there is a buildup of marks. Then ensure your leather is totally dry and you are then ready. On darker colours your Heritage will clean as it polishes.

Take the sponge (provided) and wipe over the surface of your Heritage Leathercare, removing any surplus by wiping on the inside edge of your container. You then simply wipe over your leather in circular motions, ensuring your leather is not greasy (if it is then just buff up using a clean and dry soft cloth). Heritage Leathercare feeds, polishes, and protects your leather, leaving a water resistant finish. As stated your Heritage will clean and polish your leather boots and shoes at the same time, keeping them soft and water resistant It's ease of use makes it especially suitable for motor bike boots and knee length leather fashion boots.

Note: Heritage Leathercare is NOT recommended for use on suede, nubuck or nappa leathers.

How do I clean and polish leather furniture

Since my last post regarding how to clean and polish football boots I have had several requests for information on cleaning and polishing leather furniture. Again it is not a complicated process.

If your leather furniture is a very light colour and is dirty, you may need to clean it. This is best done by washing with pure soap (Simple soap, baby soap, soap flakes, Lux, etc.) and then ensuring it is totally dry.

Having washed and dried your furniture where necessary, and on darker colours you are now ready. Take your tub of Heritage Leathercare and wipe your sponge (provided) across the surface taking any excess off by wiping on the inside of your tub. Wipe your sponge in circular motions on your furniture, ensuring it is not greasy (if it is you have used too much and will need to buff up using a soft, dry cloth or a sheet of kitchen towel)

Heritage Leathercare cleans, polishes, and protects your furniture and will leave a water resistant finish. It is also colourless so can be used on any colour.

How do I clean and polish leather football boots

We are now at the beginning of the football season and someone has asked me about cleaning football boots. Using Heritage Leathercare, this is a quite straight forward job!

The first thing you need do is to make sure the boots are dry. Don't, however, attempt to dry them using heat. The best way is to stuff the boots with newspaper and let them dry naturally. When the boots are dry , remove all mud, but do not use sharp knives to do this - you don't want to put nicks, cuts, etc on your leather. Having removed the mud, brush the boots to remove the last vestiges. You are now ready to polish.

Using the sponge provided, or a soft cloth, apply your Heritage Leathercare all over the boots, including the laces. Use circular motions and use your Heritage very sparingly, your boots should not be greasy, if they are you have used too much polish and will need to buff up using a soft cloth.

You are now finished and your boots are ready for use.
