How do I keep my new leather suite looking like new?

I was with a group of people the other day and, knowing that I sold product for leather, someone who was looking for help with caring for his leather suite, asked me about Heritage Leathercare. He had a new suite and was looking for help to keep it looking like new

Heritage Leathercare feeds, polishes and protects leather and leaves a water resistant finish It is also colourless so can be used on any colour. Another advantage of Heritage is that it will also clean most colours although white and similar pale colours may, need washing first. To do this, wash with pure soap (Simple Soap,Dreft, soap flakes, etc.) and dry thoroughly making sure your leather is totally dry before applying your Heritage.

Heritage Leathercare is very easy to use.Using the sponge provided, wipe it across the surface of the polish and remove any excess by wiping across the inside edge of the tub. Then apply to your leather by wiping very sparingly, in circular motions. On completion, your leather should not be greasy to the touch. If it is greasy, buff it up using a clean, dry and soft cloth. To keep your leather furniture in a supple condition and looking good it is recommended that you apply your Heritage Leathercare 3 or 4 times per year as a minimum.

How do I clean my kitchen with the minimum of effort?

I was talking to an avid user of Heritage Woodcare a couple of days ago about all the different uses for it,- did you know that Heritage Woodcare is excellent at cleaning white kitchen goods, car bodywork and similar finishes? This person didn't even though they have been users for many years!

In your kitchen, there is no need to change products and cloths. Just prepare your cloth in the usual way i.e. give your bottle a really good shake, pour some polish into a container, take any clean, soft and dry cloth, soak it in the polish, squeeze and wring your cloth out till it is damp dry, then pour any remaining polish back into your bottle and you are now ready.

Using your Heritage Woodcare is very easy as all you do is wipe! On your wood wipe in the direction of the grain for best results but if your wood goes streaky it indicates more than one application is needed, otherwise there is no need to buff up!Continue to use the same cloth (if it is not too dirty) on your washing machine, dishwasher, etc.Heritage Woodcare is oil based so, in addition to cleaning your white goods, it leaves a protective finish.

For your car, wash in the usual way to remove grit, etc. that will scratch your bodywork, dry the car off (using a Super Shammy - contact us for details!) prepare your cloth as above and just wipe in circular motions ensuring you polish all the bodywork. The real benefit of using Heritage is that there is no need to buff up!

How can I keep my kitchen clean and Grease free

In my recent posts I have been telling you about Heritage Woodcare (sometimes known as Celtic Woodcare) and how versatile it is with so many uses.I have told you how it is ideal for use on your furniture, how it cleans ( including the removal of grease and grime, nicotine buildup, ring marks, etc.) and polishes at the same time

I will now tell you another use. In your kitchen it will remove all the buildup of grease and also water marks. Every time we cook we are releasing water and grease into the atmosphere. This then settles on work surfaces, cupboards, cooker hoods, even the floor. Regular washing of the floor keeps it clean and grease free, thus safe to walk on. Heritage Woodcare will do a similar job on your work surfaces and cupboards and will also remove most of the water marks that will gather round your cooker, sink, kettle, etc, Use it in the usual way, Cooker hoods don't necessarily get regular cleaning and are prone to getting buildups of grease. This then hardens and can sometimes be difficult to remove. Using your Heritage can help. When preparing your cloth (see my previous post) having squeezed your cloth out, do not ring it out but leave it reasonably damp, wipe over the cooker hood last thing at night. Do this for about a week and the oils in your Heritage will gradually penetrate the dried on grease meaning you will eventually just wipe it off.

How to remove nicotine from your furniture.

I have had an enquiry about removing nicotine from furniture. This follows a post I did some time ago about a cheap oak chest of drawers bought from an antique shop. In the post I said, the reason it was so cheap was because it came in a house clearance from someone who had been a heavy smoker and the drawers were very dirty and covered in nicotine.

I had been asked if Heritage Woodcare would remove all this buildup of nicotine and grime. As Heritage Woodcare works by removing all the buildup of silicons, waxes, grease and grime and in the process also removing most white heat, ring and water marks I felt it would therefore, successfully remove all the buildup from the drawers including the nicotine and, at the same time, should make them smell a little fresher.

Heritage Woodcare is very easy to use . Give your bottle a really good shake, pour some into a container, take any soft and clean cloth, soak it in the polish and squeeze and wring the cloth out till it is damp dry. Pour the remaining polish back into your bottle. You are now ready and all you do now is wipe, possibly more than once, following the direction of the grain . As previously stated, Heritage Woodcare removes all the build up of silicons, waxes , grease and grime and as the nicotine is in the buildup, that will be removed at the same time.

How do I clean and polish my wood furniture / floors etc.?

Having told you how to use Heritage Woodcare to remove bitumen in my previous posts I will now tell you about it.

Made in their Dublin facility by Drigate Products, Heritage Woodcare is a twentyfirst century polish based on a tried and tested recipe that is centuries old and was known only by the grand masters of the furniture crafts. The competition for perfection in the cleaning, polishing, and preservation of wooden furniture between these rival grandmasters can still be seen today when looking at many priceless antiques. In order, to get the desired results, these grandmasters would spend hours, sometimes days, working on a single item.

Few people today have the time, or the patience, of these grandmasters, so after much research, and backed up by modern technology, this centuries old recipe has been updated to produce Heritage Woodcare. which gives the same outstanding results in a fraction of the time.

Heritage Woodcare is very easy to use. Take your bottle, give it a really good shake and pour some into a container. Take any soft, clean cloth, soak it in the polish, squeeze and wring your cloth out and then pour the polish remaining in your container back into your bottle. You are now ready! To clean and polish your furniture you simply wipe, following the grain of the wood. Heritage Woodcare cleans and polishes at the same time, removing the build-up of silicons, waxes, grease and grime thus restoring your furniture back to its original finish. Heavy build-ups of grease and grime may require more than one application. It will also remove most white heat marks, ring marks and water marks although again, more than one application may be needed.

How to remove bitumen from leather car seats.

In my last post I told you about removing bitumen from wood flooring.I have also had enquiries about removing it from leather.

Coincidentally I was demonstrating Heritage Woodcare at a show a while ago and someone told me about his experiences.Apparently he had not long bought a brand new Jaguar car with cream leather upholstery and was driving it through an area where the road had recently been resurfaced. Somehow a piece of grit covered in tar (bitumen) became trapped between his trousers and the car seat covering both in tar. He went on to say that although the trousers were ruined he had rescued the leather seat by wiping it over with Heritage Woodcare.

I thanked him for the information but advised him to wash that particular seat with pure soap and then condition it with Heritage Leathercare. So, to answer any query about removing bitumen from leather, wipe the leather with a cloth prepared with Heritage Woodcare (see my previous post for instructions on how to prepare your cloth), wash your leather with pure soap (Simple Soap, baby soap, soap flakes, Dreft, etc.), make sure your leather is totally dry, then condition with Heritage Leathercare.

How to remove bitumen from wood floors.

I have received numerous enquiries recently about removing bitumen.Bitumen or tar as it is sometimes known is used as an adhesive to stick wood flooring, particularly parquet and similar types of wood flooring. Over time the bitumen seeps up between the joints leaving black marks on the floor.

I had this problem on my own floors. My wife and I decided to replace the carpet from the hall and stairs To make the job easier and cheaper I took up the existing carpet myself only to find a parquet floor underneath. I could also see the floor continued into the lounge. After much persuasion my wife agreed to not replacing the carpet on the understanding that I cleaned the floor and did all the maintenance!

The floor that was revealed was very dirty and appeared to have a lot of black marks, which I subsequently found to be bitumen, between the wood tiles. After several attempts at sweeping the floor I managed to pick up all the dust. I then got down on my hands and knees (I could in those days!) and used Scotchbrite (a non scratch scourer) soaked in Heritage Woodcare and "scrubbed" the whole floor. I finished up with a floor that looked really clean and had a slight sheen, I was also pleased to note that all the bitumen that had seeped up between the joints had been removedNow every time I sweep the floor it also restores the sheen and wiping over with my Heritage Woodcare once per month is all that is required to keep my floor looking really good.

Green Angel Seaweed Powder

In my postbox I have recently been reading about seaweed, Seaweed is a natural rich source of many of the vitamins and trace elements vital to good health and there are many ways that we can take advantage of all this natural bounty.

Seaweed is a great ingredient for use in cooking and there are many recipes around to help us to do so. Welsh lava bread and fried seaweed are just two examples. Seaweed can also be incorporated into skincare products or ground into a powder that has many uses. It is this latter that I am now going to tell you about.

Green Angel Seaweed Powder is not only therapeutic on a physical level but also on a mental and emotional one too, helping you to soothe and gently ease away the tensions of the day - the aching muscles, the irritability, the headaches and the insomnia, When tension and stress continue over a period of time, the nervous system may become exhausted and enthusiasm for living melts away.

Green Angel Seaweed powder gives support to those suffering from anxiety, grief, shock, depression, exhaustion, etc. and also helps to relieve arthritic and rheumatic pain To use your Green Angel Seaweed Powder, run your bath with hot water only, put 2 tablespoons of powder into the bath whilst the water is running, (do not allow the bath to get too full as you will later put cold water in), leave for 10 minutes for the seaweed to infuse into the bathwater, put in sufficient cold water to make the bath comfortable, rest and relax in the bath for at least 20 minutes to benefit from the therapeutic properties of the seaweed.Gently pat yourself dry with a soft bath towel.

Did you know you can use Heritage Leathercare on wood?

Did you know you can use Heritage Leathercare on wood? Being beeswax based, it is really good and leaves a brilliant shine. You do, however, need to buff it up!

I was called to have a look at some problems in a church. The church had recently undergone some restoration but some areas of wood (panelling and pews) appeared to be much lighter, almost to having lost their colour. I tried Heritage Woodcare which certainly removed grime and did put some colour in but not really enough. I then tried a coloured (brown) leather polish but this did not really do much at all. My last attempt was with Heritage Leathercare. To my surprise this really did the trick. The colour was restored and the problem area was indistinguishable from the surrounding wood.

I also have some coffee tables with a leather insert. These are really easy to clean with Heritage Leathercare. I am able to use the one product on both the leather and the wood surrounds but, as I have said, I do need to buff the wood up.

How can I rewax a wax jacket?

My recent posts have been telling you about Heritage Leathercare and how you can use it on leather furniture, clothing and footwear. This has prompted a reader to get in touch and ask about rewaxing a wax jacket. I will use this post then to tell you how to use your Heritage to do just that,

Although Heritage Leathercare does have cleaning properties there are some instances where you may need to do a seperate clean (e.g. to remove bird droppings, etc.) In this instance I would suggest you "wash" these areas of the garment with pure soap. Make a solution of soap and water, dip in a soft, clean cloth, gently squeeze the cloth till you have taken most but not all the water out and wipe the areas you wish to clean. Make sure your coat is totally dry before going on to the next stage.

So having cleaned your jacket where necessary and having made sure it is totally dry, take your tub of Heritage Leathercare and the sponge (provided), wipe the sponge across the surface of the polish removing any surplus by wiping the loaded sponge across the inside edge of the tub. You then simply wipe the loaded sponge on your jacket in circular motions ensuring you do not leave the jacket greasy. Assuming your jacket is not greasy, when you have finished wiping, it is now ready for wear, clean, rewaxed and water resistant.

How do I clean and polish my leather jackets, skirts and boots?

Continuing my theme of Heritage Leathercare and its' various uses, I will. in this post, tell you how to use it on clothing and footwear.

Heritage Leathercare is ideal for use on clothing, particularly Motor Bike Leathers, Skirts, Jackets, etc. and as it is colourless, it can be used on any colour. It is also ideal for leather boots (riding boots, work boots, etc) and shoes.

As it is colourless, Heritage Leathercare can be used on any colour although white or similar light colours, may need to be cleaned first. Simply wipe over with a soapy cloth, paying special attention to areas where there is a buildup of marks. Ensure your leather is totally dry and you are then ready. On darker colours your Heritage will clean as it polishes.

Take your sponge (provided) and wipe over the surface of your Heritage Leathercare, removing any surplus by wiping on the inside edge of your container. You then simply wipe over your leather in circular motions, ensuring your leather is not greasy (if it is then just buff up using a clean and dry soft cloth). Heritage Leathercare feeds, polishes, and protects your leather, leaving a water resistant finish.

As stated your Heritage will clean and polish your leather boots and shoes at the same time, keeping them soft and water resistant It's ease of use makes it especially suitable for motor bike boots and knee length leather fashion boots.

Note: Heritage Leathercare is NOT recommended for use on suede, nubuck or nappa leathers.

Heritage Leathercare - feeds, polishes, protects

In my last post I told how I had been asked for help with caring for leather furniture. To answer this I went on to tell you you about Heritage Leathercare (sometimes known as Celtic Leathercare) and how good it is on your leather suites. In this post I will tell you something about it.

Made in their Dublin facility by Drigate Products, Heritage Leathercare is a traditional 19th century leather balsam containing original, old fashioned ingredients including beeswax. These are well known in the trade for protecting and revitalising the leather used in leathercraft (and indeed the stitching). Many craftspeople and professionals will vouch for its tried and tested formula.

The results obtained with Heritage Leathercare are instantaneous and long lasting. Whilst newer leather products benefit from a shine and protection unsurpassed by modern polishes not containing our ingredients older, tired leather is left revitalised and more supple.Heritage Leathercare is generally regarded as one of the most economical on the market in this day and age.

I'm not well.

I'm dying! That is what all husbands are supposed to say when they have the sniffles isn't it?

OK, I have a cold. For those readers who don't know what 'a cold' is, it is an infection that is very uncomfortable with a fuzzy head, soar throat, blocked and runny nose, sneezing and a cough. It will usually last less than a week but you feel very rough whilst it lasts. It is, however, a good excuse for doing nothing.

Hopefully I will be back on topline in a couple of days.

How do I remove bitumen / tar and spots of paint from my wood floor?

I said in my previous post that I returned home to find my eldest son had decorated my lounge whilst I had been away but hadn't had the time to clear up. Well, this is now my job and the first bit I have to tackle is the floor. You already know that we have a parquet floor in the lounge so the first thing I have to do is remove all the bits of paint, etc.

Previously I have told you about my floor and how to remove bitumen, etc..Bitumen/tar is used as an adhesive to stick wood flooring, particularly parquet and similar types of wood flooring. Over time the bitumen seeps up between the joints leaving black marks on the floor.I had this problem on my own floors.

My wife and I decided to replace the carpet from the hall and stairs To make the job easier and cheaper I took up the existing carpet myself only to find a parquet floor. I could also see the floor continued into the lounge. (It turned out that the ground floor of our house is concrete and finished with oak parquet flooring). After much persuasion my wife agreed to not replacing the carpet on the understanding that I cleaned the floor and did all the maintenance!

The floor that was revealed was very dirty and appeared to have a lot of black marks (subsequently found to be bitumen) between the wood tiles.

So, having already removed the bitumen, all that remains for me to do now is to remove all the spots of paint, etc. This is similar to removing the bitunen and requires the same amount of elbow grease but the paint does come off - eventually!

What is the easist way to polish my furniture?

Hello to all my readers. It is some time since my last post as I have enjoyed a week away. Whilst we have been away my eldest son decorated our lounge. It was brilliant to return to a bright and clean room but he didn't have time to do the clearing up afterwards. That is down to me! The first job is to clean the floors, removing the spots of paint, etc and that is where Heritage Woodcare comes in. In this post then, I will tell you about Heritage Woodcare.

Made in their Dublin facility by Drigate Products, Heritage Woodcare is a twentyfirst century polish based on a tried and tested recipe that is centuries old and was known only by the grand masters of the furniture crafts. The constant striving for perfection in the cleaning, polishing, and preservation of wooden furniture between these rival grandmasters can still be seen today when looking at many priceless antiques.

There are many other uses for your Heritage Woodcare which I will tell you about in the next few posts.

How Green Angel Seaweed Powder gives help and relief from Cellulitis

Following my last post about Green Angel Seaweed Powder I was recently contacted by a customer asking about using it to "combat" the effects of cellulitis, so I thought it would be worthwhile to repeat the blog in which I looked at Cellulite in some depth and how using Green Angel Seaweed Powder gives some help and relief from this common problem.

According to Wikipaedia, "Cellulite describes a common paraphysiological cosmetic condition that is claimed to occur in most women, where the skin of the lower limbs, abdomen and pelvic region becomes dimpled. Cellulite is a description rather than a physical object" This is a condition then that affects many women who feel it disfigures their appearance.

The use of Green Angel Seaweed Powder, in the treatment of cellulite has been found to have some success. To use your Green Angel Seaweed Powder, mix one tablespoonful to a loose cream with boiling water. Cool and apply to desired area. Cover with clingfilm and then with a warm towel Leave for a maximum of 20 minutes. Shower with warm water and then with cool water. Drink plenty of cold water, up to 8 glasses per day. Use twice a week for a month.

How to use Green Angel Seaweed Powder as a bath tonic.

Having briefly introduced you to Green Angel products in my last post I will now tell you more about them. I will start with telling you about their Seaweed Powder. Green Angel Seaweed Powder is not only therapeutic on a physical level but also on a mental and emotional one too. In this post I am going to tell you about using it as a Bath Tonic.

Green Angel Seaweed Powder helps soothe and gently ease away the tensions of the day - the aching muscles, the irritability, the headaches and the insomnia, When tension and stress continue over a period of time, the nervous system may become exhausted and enthusiasm for living melts away. Green Angel Seaweed powder gives support to those suffering from anxiety, grief, shock, depression, exhaustion and also helps to relieve arthritic and rheumatic pain

To use your Green Angel Seaweed Powder, run your bath with hot water only, put 2 tablespoons of powder into the bath whilst the water is running, (do not allow the bath to get too full as you will later put cold water in), leave for 10 minutes for the seaweed to infuse into the bathwater, put in sufficient cold water to make the bath comfortable, rest and relax in the bath for at least 20 minutes to benefit from the therapeutic properties of the seaweed.Gently pat yourself dry with a soft bath towel.

What makes seaweed good as a food and as an ingredient in Skincare products?

In this post, as a change of subject, I am going to take a closer look at the benefits of seaweed when used as an ingredient of skincare products . As all Green Angel Skincare products contain Seaweed I will also introduce you to them.

According to Wikipaedia seaweed is a loose term encompassing"macroscopic, multicellular, benthic marine algae" The ecologyof seaweeds is dominated by two specific requirements - seawater (or at least brackish water) and light. Generally they also need a firm anchorage point.Seaweed has a variety of uses for which it is either farmed or foraged from the wild.

As a food it is used extensively by coastal people being rich in calcium and magnesia and is used commercially because of its' gelatinous properties (in Wales it is combined with oats to make Lavabread). Medicinally it has many uses from wound healing and iodine to helping to cure many illnesses. Seaweeds are naturally rich in vitamins(A1,B1,B2,B6,C,E,K among others) and are an important source of up to 60 trace elements.

All this makes seaweed one of nature's natural forms of skincare with anti-ageing,stress-relieving and therapeutic properties. For hundreds of years, people on the west coast of Ireland have used natural seaweed baths to help ease tension and soothe the aches and pains of the day.Seaweed is totally natural and can remineralise and moisturise the skin. It can be used as a skin-tonic, also helping to combat cellulite.

Available in dry powder form, Green Angel 100% Wild Irish Seaweed Powder is available in 3 sizes - 100gram, 200gram and 600gram.All Green Angel Skincare products can be purchased on-line from www.heritagepolish.com/skin.html

Musings

I have had a friend request on my Facebook account but I can't login. I have been round and round in a loop trying to reset my password. Is anyone else having that problem? or is it only me?

On a brighter note, haven't we had a lovely day today! This morning I managed to get 2 jobs done that have been outstanding. Having done the dishes, (no- this wasn't one of the jobs!) I washed the rug. I have been waiting for a day like today so that it dries. I then went out and finished mowing the lawn. I started this several days ago but had to leave it as we were taking our grandchildren out. Since then the weather has been so wet I have been unable to get out to finish it,

We then went out for lunch. It was very pleasant lunchtime, sitting outside in the sunshine and having a meal

How do I clean and rewax a wax jacket

Through my recent posts I have been telling you about Heritage Leathercare and how you can use it on leather furniture, clothing and footwear. In this post I intend to tell you how to use it to rewax a wax jacket.

Having cleaned your jacket where necessary and having made sure it is totally dry, take your tub of Heritage Leathercare and the sponge (provided), wipe the sponge across the surface of the polish removing any surplus by wiping the loaded sponge across the inside edge of the tub. You then simply wipe the loaded sponge on your jacket in circular motions ensuring you do not leave the jacket greasy. Assuming your jacket is not greasy, when you have finished wiping, it is now ready for wear, clean, rewaxed and water resistant.

What is best to clean and condition Leather Jackets and Boots

Continuing my theme about Heritage Leathercare and how to use it on leather furniture, etc. in this post I intend to tell you about some other uses for it, in particular clothing and footwear.

Heritage Leathercare is ideal for use on clothing, particularly Motor Bike Leathers, Skirts, Jackets, etc. and as it is colourless, it can be used on any colour. On white or a similar light colours, you may need to clean it first. Simply wipe over with a soapy cloth, paying special attention to areas where there is a buildup of marks. Ensure your leather is totally dry and you are then ready. On darker colours your Heritage will slso clean.

Take your sponge (provided) and wipe over the surface of your Heritage Leathercare, removing any surplus by wiping on the inside edge of your container. You then simply wipe over your leather in circular motions, ensuring your leather is not greasy, if it is then just buff up using a clean and dry soft cloth.Heritage Leathercare feeds, polishes, and protects your leather, leaving a water resistant finish.

Heritage Leathercare is also ideal for boots and shoes.

Heritage Leathercare

In my last post I told you about Heritage Leathercare (sometimes known as Celtic Leathercare) and how good it is on your leather suites., I thought I ought to follow this up by telling you something about it.

Whilst newer leather products benefit from a shine and protection unsurpassed by modern polishes not containing our ingredients older, tired leather is left revitalised and more supple.

Heritage Leathercare is generally regarded as one of the most economical on the market in this day and age.

How to keep your leather suite looking great.

I have received some queries from people looking for help with caring for their leather suites. Most of them seem to have new suites and had checked out my website looking for help to keep them looking like new.

Coventry Phoenix Lions Club

Last Saturday, The Coventry Phoenix Lions Club had a book stall at the Donkey Derby put on by our colleagues in Coventry Leofric Lions Club. It is so long since I last did a stand at one of these type events, I had forgotten just what hard work they were.

Two other members and myself set up. We had bought a gazebo as we anticipate doing more of this type of activity and, as it happened, we were very glad of it as it rained several times during the day.

Looking on the day from a publicity point of view, we could possibly say it was successful as we did get our name better known both among our colleagues from other clubs and with the generasl public. However, looking at it from a fund raising point of view, it could have been more successful.

I arrived home damp and tired and a little despondent.

It is nice to be appreciated

I have received a couple of emails recently from customers commenting on my service and how much they appreciate the service I provide. To me, it makes sense to offer the best service I can, to give advice and help where I can. It also makes good business sense as customers who have had a good experience will be more likely to buy again from me when they run out.

It is nice to be appreciated.

How do I remove bitumen from parquet floors?

I get more enquiries about removing bitumen than anything else. I had this problem myself. I had taken up my hall carpet intending to replace it only to find a wonderful parquet floor.

As the carpet had been down for many years, the floor was very dirty. I could also see many black marks between the tiles and knowing that bitumen was used as a glue, I realised that was what had made the marks.

My first job was to sweep the floor. This was also my second and third jobs as well, trying to get up all the dust. This done. I got down on my hands and knees (which I could in those days and with my physio's help, I hope to be able to do so again) and using Scotchbrite (a plastic non-scratch scourer) soaked in Heritage Woodcare, I scrubbed the floor. This brought up the floor beautifully and I was pleased to note all the black marks (and spots of paint near the skirting boards) had gone

All I do now (the agreement with my wife is that I do all the maintenance) is spill a bit of Heritage Woodcare on the floor, having thoroughly shaken the bottle first, and using a squeegee mop, kept specially for my floor, I move it round in the polish until it has soaked it all up and mop the floor. I then need to leave the floor for 15 minutes to dry and it is then safe to walk on. this needs doing about once per month.

Coventry Phoenix Lions Club

Our Lions Club. The Coventry Phoenix Lions Club is having a stand at the Donkey Derby this Saturday. The Donkey Derby event takes place on The Memorial Park in Coventry and is hosted by our colleagues from The Leofric Lions Club. Although I have lived in Coventry for 30 years, I have never been to it as I have usually been working so it will be interesting to see what happens.

The stand we are having is books and bric a brack. We have got some great books as all the club members are searching their bookshelves and I was given 150 Readers Digest books from Freecycle. As I said we will also have some bric a brack.

If you visit the Donkey Derby, do visit our stand and buy some books, etc. All profits are going to Lions Charities. You will find us near the Beer and Tea Tents.

Winter Solstice by Rosamunde Pilcher

I have just finished reading a delightful and engrossing book called ''Winter Solstice'' by Rosamunde Pilcher. The story is about an elderly couple who find happiness out of tragedy and spread this happiness around. Summed up like this, the story doesn't sound much but it is truly engrossing and well worth reading. There is no bad language, no violence, no criminal activity, just charm, an engrossing read, and a study of humanity and family life

If you haven't read it, I can thoroughly recommend it.

Incidentally, don't forget you can buy Heritage Polishes, Green Angel Skincare products and Paston Crafts hand crafted goods online, visit http://www.heritagepolish.com/

Cleaning white kitchen appliances / car bodywork, etc.

Did you know that Heritage Woodcare is excellent at cleaning white kitchen goods, car bodywork and similar finishes?

In your kitchen, there is no need to change products and cloths. You prepare your cloth in the usual way i.e. give your bottle a thorough shake, pour some into a container, take any clean, soft and dry cloth, soak it in the polish, squeeze and wring your cloth out till it is damp dry, pour any remaining polish back into your bottle and you are now ready.

Using your Heritage Woodcare is very easy as all you do is wipe! On your wood wipe in the direction of the grain for best results. If your wood goes streaky it indicates more than one application is needed, otherwise there is no need to buff up!

Continue to use the same cloth (if it is not too dirty) on your washing machine, dishwasher, etc. Heritage Woodcare is oil based so, in addition to cleaning your white goods, it leaves a protective finish.

How do I keep my kitchen clean and greasefree?

Continuing my examination of Heritage Woodcare (sometimes known as Celtic Woodcare) and having told you how it is ideal for use on your furniture with it being able to clean ( including the removal of grease and grime, nicotine buildup, ring marks, etc.) and polish at the same time I will now tell you about using it in your kitchen.

Here it will remove all the buildup of grease and water marks particularly. Every time we cook we are releasing water and grease into the atmosphere. This then settles on work surfaces, cupboards, cooker hoods, even the floor. Regular washing of the floor keeps them clean and grease free, thus safe to walk on.However, our cooker hoods don't necessarily get this regular washing and are prone to getting buildups of grease. This then hardens and can sometimes be difficult to remove. Using your Heritage can help.

When preparing your cloth (see my previous post) having squeezed your cloth cloth out, do not ring it out but leave it reasonably damp, wipe over the cooker hood last thing at night. Do this for about a week and the oils in your Heritage will gradually penetrate the dried on grease meaning you will eventually just wipe it off.

Heritage Woodcare is also ideal for wiping over your cupboards, work surfaces, etc. Regular use will keep these clean and grease free and prevent the buildup of water marks, etc. thus keeping your kitchen looking like new

What is the best and easist product for my wood floors and furniture?

Recently I have been telling you how to use Heritage Woodcare to take off bitumen and nicotine and also clean and polish your wood furniture and floors in the process.

Made in their Dublin facility by Drigate Products and based on a nineteenth century secret formula known only by the then grandmasters of the furniture crafts, Heritage Woodcare has been updated for modern products. The keen rivalry between these skilled craftsmen brought about a constant searching for absolute perfection in the preservstion, cleaning and polishing of wooden furniture.. Many priceless antique pieces seen today give testimony to the success of their skills.Comprehensive research aided by enlightened technology has enabled Drigate Products to produce a polish that gives the same outstanding results in a fraction of the time taken by those skilled craftsmen.

Heritage Woodcare is very easy to use. Give your bottle a thorough shake, pour some into a container, soak any clean, soft and dry cloth in the polish, squeeze and wring your cloth out till it is damp dry, return the excess polish to your bottle and you are now ready. All you do now is wipe. Heritage Woodcare takes off all the buildup of silicones, waxes, grease and grime and will also remove most white heat, ring and water marks. Heavier buildups may need more than one application.

Heritage Woodcare is ideally suited to using on all your wood furniture and floors and also in your kitchen. The ease of using it and it's effectiveness make it the first choice for many people and companies, and it is used in a variety of commercial establishments including hotels, guest houses, stately homes. churches, etc as well as in the domestic situation.

How do I remove nicotine from my chest of drawers?

I am still getting some replies to my post about the cheap oak chest of drawers bought from an antique shop. As I said, the reason it was so cheap was because it came in a house clearance from someone who had been a heavy smoker and the drawers were very dirty and covered in nicotine.

I was asked if Heritage Woodcare would remove all this buildup of nicotine and grime. Heritage Woodcare works by removing all the buildup of silicons, waxes, grease and grime and will also remove most white heat, ring and water marks. It will, therefore, successfully remove all the buildup from the drawers including the nicotine and, in the process, should make them smell a little fresher.

Following my posts about using Heritage Woodcare to remove bitumen I have had some poeple asking me about it and what it does so I thought it would be useful to spend a few posts looking at it.

Heritage Woodcare is a twentyfirst century product based on a tried and tested recipe that is centuries old and was known only by the grand masters of the furniture crafts. How do I remove bitumen / tar from leather?

Following on from my post about removing bitumen from wood flooring, I thought I would tell you how to remove it from leather.

I was demonstrating Heritage Woodcare at a show a while ago and someone told me about his experiences.Apparently he had not long bought a brand new Jaguar with cream leather upholstery and was driving this car through an area where the road had recently been resurfaced. Somehow a piece of grit covered in tar (bitumen) became trapped between his trousers and the car seat covering both in the tar. He went on to say that the trousers were ruined but he had rescued the leather seat by wiping it over with Heritage Woodcare.

Heritage Woodcare and Heritage Leathercare are both available online, visit www.heritagepolish.com/shop/index.php Heritage Woodcare can also be obtained from http://www.heritagewoodcare.co.uk/buy-woodcare

How do I remove bitumen from my parquet floors.

I have been checking my Google Analytics and by far the most common keyword is bitumen particularly in relation to removing it so I thought I would devote this post to looking at this subject again.

Bitumen/tar is used as an adhesive to stick wood flooring, particularly parquet and similar types of wood flooring. Over time the bitumen seeps up between the joints leaving black marks on the floor.

I had this problem on my own floors. My wife and I decided to replace the carpet in the hall and stairs. I took up the existing carpet myself to make the job easier and cheaper only to find a parquet floor in the hall and I could also see the floor continued into the lounge.

After several attempts at sweeping the floor I managed to pick up all the dust. I then got down on my hands and knees (I could in those days!) and used Scotchbrite (a non scratch scourer) soaked in Heritage Woodcare and "scrubbed" the whole floor. I finished up with a floor that looked really clean and had a slight sheen, I was also pleased to note that all the bitumen that had seeped up between the joints had been removed

Now every time I sweep the floor it also restores the sheen and wiping over with my Heritage Woodcare once per month is all that is required to keep my floor looking really good.

I occasionally get comments from readers. My policy on comments is firstly I need to know who is commenting. I feel that anyone who doesn't identify themselves doesn't have much faith in their comment and has other motives in making it , probably trying to improve ranking. I will publish comments where there is a valid argument, even comments that disagree with my posts, as I do feel that an all round blog is a better blog but I will not publish anonymous comments!

Green Angel Seaweed Powder as a soothing foot tonic

Continuing my theme of using Green Angel Seaweed Powder and the many beneficial uses it has , in this post I am going to tell you how to use it as a Foot Tonic.

We have all come home after a trying day when we seem to have been on our feet all the time (at work, shopping, taking the children out, etc.) and there is no better way to relax than to put our feet in a foot bath. Now we can take that one stage further by adding Green Angel Seaweed Powder to the foot bath and really relieving hot, swollen feet.

Add one tablespoonful of Green Angel Seaweed Powder to a basin of boiling water and infuse for 10 minutes or so, allow enough time for the water to be cool enough to be comfortable. Soak your feet for 10 to 15 minutes. this is soothing and therapeutic, really helping the circulation around the feet. Pat your feet dry and apply Green Angel Rescue Cream.

Green Angel Seaweed Powder and Cellulite

Continuing my theme about Green Angel Seaweed Powder I was recently contacted by a customer asking about using it to "combat" the effects of cellulitis, so I am going to briefly examine Cellulite and how you can get help and relief from this common problem.

The use of Green Angel Seaweed Powder, in the treatment of cellulite has been found to hve some success.

Green Angel Seaweed Powder

I have been reading a lot recently about seaweed, or sea vegetables as they are sometimes called. Seaweed is a natural, rich source of many of the vitamins and trace elements vital to continuing good health. There are many ways that we can take advantage of all this natural bounty. You can cook with seaweed and there are many recipes around to help us to do so. Seaweed can also be incorporated into skincare products or ground into a powder with many uses. It is this latter that I am going to tell you about.

Green Angel Seaweed Powder is not only therapeutic on a physical level but also on a mental and emotional one too and in this post I am going to tell you about using it as a Bath Tonic.

Coventry Phoenix Lions Club

Some time ago I had a yellow card through my door inviting my wife and I to a wine and nibbles evening and to take a look at Lions International. It was a very enjoyable evening and I learnt a great deal about the Lions. For instance, and the most important aspect of Lionism is that they are a service organisation who offer service to our local community, to our nation and internationally. Most people who know a little about Lions think we are a fund raising organisation and whilst we need funds to continue our work, that is not our prime focus.

However, I have leaped forward in time. As I said, it was an enjoyable evening so I continued to attend meetings. Originally there was probably about 10 to 15 people attended the first meeting. As time progressed our numbers dwindled until 7 remained. We took on the mantle of the existing (really in name only) Coventry Lions Club and the 7 of us took the momentous step of joining and reinstating the club. To make it our own, we have renamed the club the Coventry Phoenix Lions Club.

If any of my readers are in the Coventry (UK) area and would like to know more, we meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month at the Standard Triumph Club, Herald Avenue, Coventry. You will be very welcome to join us. Very soon we will also have our own website. In the meantime check out www.lionsmd105.org for more information about Lionism in the UK and Ireland.

How can I rewax a wax jacket?

To conclude my recent series of posts in which I have been telling you about Heritage Leathercare and its uses I am going to follow up a number of contacts I have had on rewaxing a wax jacket.

This is a comparatively simple task. Initially you may need to clean your jacket. If you do, I would suggest using a cloth soaked in soapy water and squeezed out such that it still contains a reasonable amount of water. Wipe areas where there is a buildup of marks and then ensure your jacket is totally dry - this is really important! Now you are ready.Take your tub of Heritage and, using the sponge provided, wipe over the surface, scraping it across the inside edge to remove any surplus polish and then just wipe, in circular motions, on your jacket. Ensure you cover the whole garment, taking special care that it is not left greasy such that the grease comes off on your other clothes.Where it is greasy, take a soft, clean cloth and buff it up to remove excess wax.

The job is now done and your jacket will have that water resistant finish.

How do I clean and polish leather jackets and boots?

Recently I have been telling you about Heritage Leathercare and how to use it on leather furniture, etc. In this post I intend to tell you about some other uses for it, in particular clothing and footwear.

Heritage Leathercare is ideal for use on clothing, particularly Motor Bike Leathers, and as it is colourless, it can be used on any colour. Most leather jackets, trousers and skirts are either black or brown so your Heritage will clean and polish them as you apply it.

Should your clothing be white or a similar light colour, you may however, need to clean it first. Simply wipe over with a soapy cloth, paying special attention to areas where there is a buildup of marks. Ensure your leather is totally dry and you are then ready.

It is this latter property that ensures it's suitability for motor bike leathers.Heritage Leathercare is also ideal for boots and shoes. As stated your Heritage will clean and polish your leather boots and shoes at the same time, keeping them soft and water resistant. It's ease of use makes it especially suitable for motor bike boots and knee length leather fashion boots.

Note: Heritage Leathercare is NOT recommended for use on suede, nubuck or nappa leathers

How do I protect leather clothing and footwear?

Recently I have been telling you about Heritage Leathercare and, in particular, how to use it on leather furniture. It does, however, have other uses .

Heritage Leathercare is also ideal for use on leather clothing and footwear. It feeds, polishes and protects your leather whilst leaving a water resistant finish and, being colourless, it can be used on any colour. This makes it ideal for outdoor clothing and footwear.

Take your tub of Heritage and load your sponge (provided) by wiping it over the surface of the polish. Remove any surplus by wiping the sponge across the inside edge of your tub. You are now ready and proceed by simply wiping your loaded sponge in circular motions on your leather taking care not to leave the leather greasy. As long as the treated leather is not greasy the job is done. If, however, the leather is greasy to the touch, you will need to buff up using a soft dry cloth.

Following the above instructions, you can use Heritage Leathercare on clothing (jackets, skirts, trousers, motorbike leathers, etc.) and footwear. It is specially recommended for boots and shoes- leather fashion boots particularly which can be so difficult to keep clean. Using Heritage, the job can be completed in minutes. It is recommended that clothing and footwear used only in the winter are treated with Heritage before being stored.

What is the best and easiest product for my leather?

Having introduced you to Heritage Leathercare (sometimes known as Celtic Leathercare) in my last post, I thought I ought to tell you something about it.

Made in their Dublin facility by Drigate Products Heritage Leathercare is a traditional 19th century leather balsam containing original, old fashioned ingredients which include beeswax. These are well known in the trade for protecting and revitalising the leather used in leathercraft (and indeed the stitching). Many craftspeople and professionals will vouch for its tried and tested formula.

The results obtained with Heritage Leathercare are instantaneous and long lasting. Newer leather products benefit from a shine and protection unsurpassed by modern polishes not containing our ingredients whilst older, tired leather is left revitalised and more supple.Heritage Leathercare is generally regarded as one of the most economical on the market in this day and age.
