How can I remove tar from leather.

I had a question left for me over the weekend from someone who wanted to know how to remove tar from his leather car seat.Apparently he had been out with his family where there had been road works and his young son got it on his shoes and then transferred it to the seats.

The answer is the same as removing bitumen. Soak a clean cloth in Heritage Woodcare, wipe over the tar mark (do ensure that no grit or anything that will scratch your leather is embedded in the tar!). Having removed the tar, then wash the seat with pure soap, ensure it is totally dry and then apply Heritage Leathercare as recommended.

The questioner then went on to ask if the recommended treatment will also remove the tar from his son's shoes. The answer is the yes, treat the shoes in the same way and they should come up the same as they were before getting tar on them.
