How do I look after my leather furniture in hot weather?

With the present spell of hot weather, now is the ideal time to look after your leather furniture and car seats, so, my tip for this week is to apply Heritage Leathercare to them both.
If you haven't used it before see the blog "How do I look after my leather furniture" dated 12/06/09 for instructions but it is important to remember that leather is a skin and you do need to look after it otherwise it will dry out and crack. The instructions also apply to leather car seats.
Heritage Leathercare can be obtained online from www.heritagepolish.com/leather.html

how can I look after my skin? what benefit is seaweed?

Today I thought I would take a look at the Green Angel Skincare range.
Seaweed is an important ingredient in most of the Green Angel Skincare products. Seaweeds, sometimes known as sea plants or sea vegetables, have long been known to be benificial either as a food or as an ingredient in skincare or haircare products, containing, as they do, many of the vitamins, minerals and trace elements essential to good health. For more information, see my blog dated 21st February 2009

Green Angel Wild Irish Seaweed Powder is one of the many products under the Green Angel banner. It is 100% pure seaweed, so pure that it can be safely eaten but this is not recommended It can be used for 4 different applications :-
1) As a bath tonic - it helps soothe and gently ease away the tensions of the day, relieving muscles and relaxing the body and the mind.
2) As a facial tonic - Green Angel Seaweed Powder is not just a topical application but also a real treatment which works on a deep level, unclogging pores as it deep-cleanses and stimulates circulation, leaving a healthy, glowing skin.
3) As a foot tonic. For relief from hot, swollen feet.
4) As a cellulite wrap and health spa treatment. For help and relief from this common problem.

Tomorrow I will tell you how to use Green Angel Wild Irish Seaweed Powder.

Charity show

I went to a show at Burgh-Le-Marsh just outside Skegness last Saturday,
My cousin, who lives there let her garden be used for a strawberry tea. The event was organised by the local Diabetic group. There were several stalls for other charitable causes and I had my stand - I left a donation with my cousin to go to the local Age Concern group. The whole idea was to raise funds for varios charities. We were very lucky with the weather , the whole day remaining dry and mostly sunny.Although the attendance could have been better, those who did attend spent quite well and the organisers were pleased with the amount they raised. I, too, was pleased, with my three main lines - Heritage Woodcare,Heritage Leathercare,Green Angel Skincare - all contributing.

How do I restore the colour of my cream leather suite.

How do I restore the colour of my cream leather suite?

In order to restore the colour, your furniture has to be clean. Now, you can buy propriatory cleaners, but I find that washing with PURE soap (Simple soap, baby soap, soap flakes, Dreft, etc.) can do the job just as well. Do NOT use washing up liquid or detergents - they can dry leather out and may damage the colour. You then need to make sure that your leather is absolutely, totally dry.
So, having made sure your leather is clean and dry, take a pot of Colour Restorer and apply in circular motions, starting with the area where you have the problem and then going on to do the whole piece of furniture so that you keep the colour even.
The last job is to THOROUGHLY buff up, and I mean thoroughly - otherwise it will come off on your clothing.

Colour Restorer is not yet available online but will be shortly. It comes in a range of 23 colours. Until it is available online, contact me on 07967 139636 to discuss your requirements.

How do I look after my leather furniture?

I have just got a leather suite, how do I look after it?

The first thing to think about is whether it is"brand new" If it is, then follow the manufacturer's instructioms. If you use anything not recommended by the manufacturer, you risk invalidating the guarantee.

The next thing to think about is the condition. I am assuming that structurally it is sound and the upholstery is in good condition, no tears, etc. For problems in these areas, you may need to speak to a local upholsterer.

So, it is not knew and is sound. If it is dirty, you may need to clean it. The easiest way to clean your furniture is to wash it with PURE soap - Simple soap, baby soap, soap flakes, Dreft, etc.Do NOT use washing up liquid or detergents. After washing make sure it is totally dry.

Right, it is not new, is in good condition and is clean. To look after your furniture, all you need to do now is to use HERITAGE LEATHERCARE. Take either a sponge or a soft cloth, dip it in your container and wipe the excess off on the side of the container, then wipe, making sure that you treat the whole surface. As HERITAGE LEATHERCARE is colourless, you can use it on any colour. As long as the surface is not left greasy, there is no need to buff up and you can sit on it straight away. If it is greasy. you have put too much on and will need to buff it up before sitting on it.

Use HERITAGE LEATHERCARE at least 3 or 4 times per year and it will look after your furniture. However, if it is in direct sunlight (especially if it is in a conservatory), or is backing on to a radiator or close to a heater, you will need to use your HERITAGE LEATHERCARE more frequently.

HERITAGE LEATHERCARE can be bought online from www.heritagepolish.com/leather.html For all otherHERITAGE POLISH and GREEN ANGEL SKINCARE products, visit www.heritagepolish.com

How do you use Heritage Woodcare?

To continue my series about Heritage Woodcare I am going to tell you how to use it.

1. Shake the bottle well just before use.
2. Pour some into a container.
3. Take any SOFT CLEAN cloth (dusters, sheeting etc) and soak it in the polish.
4. Squeeze the cloth out, wring it out - get the cloth as dry as possible.
5. Pour the remaining polish back into the bottle.
6. Wipe - no need to buff up!
7. No need to wax any more - use Heritage Woodcare regularly.

N.B. If the duster is not wrung out enough and leaves the furniture wet it may be necessary to buff up with a soft, dry cloth
On furniture that is clogged with waxand silicone it may go streaky - this is just the polish doing it's job and cleaning. In this situation, more than one application will be necessary.

Heritage Woodcare can be bought online from www.heritagepolish.com/wood.html or send order and cheque to the WREN House address

What is Heritage Woodcare

I have talked a great deal recently about Heritage Woodcare. Today I thought it would be useful to say something about what it is..
Heritage Woodcare is a twentyfirst superior product based on a nineteenth century secret formula known only to the grandmasters of the furniture crafts. The keen rivalry between these skilled craftsman brought about a constant searching for absolute perfection in the preservation, cleaning, and polishing of wooden furniture and many a priceless antique piece to be seen today gives testimony to the success of their skills. In order to get the desired result, these craftsmen would spend hours, and sometimes days, working on a single article.
Few people, if any, in this busy modern world, have the time, to say nothing of the patience, of the old masters so after many months of comprehensive research, helped by enlightened technology, the age old formula has been updated, and will now give the same outstanding results in a fraction of the time.

How do I look after my wood, cane conservatory furniture?

Well, hasn't it been absolutely glorious over the last few days. Listening to the radio this morning they were saying that wine production in the UK is going to increase in the future as global warming takes effect replacing some of the wine grown in the Mediterranean areas as those areas become too hot for the vines.
This set me thinking.A great many people (me included) have cane furniture in our conservatories. The costant high temperatures dry out the wood making it brittle and the sun bleaches it.
This can all be avoided. Regular use of Heritage Woodcare will not only clean and stop the bleaching effect but will also feed the wood (canework) thus prevent it drying out.
It is very easy to use.Soak a soft cloth in the polish, squeeze and wring the cloth out. Return any unused polish to the bottle. Then wipe' making sure you go all round the wood and canework.
Do this regularly (monthly) and your furniture should remain in good condition.

how do I remove bitumen from my wood floor and leather car seats?

I came back from the Milton Keynes Garden Show feeling really dejected.I would not have believed it would have been possible to take so little money and indeed to make a loss in such a large shopping centre. Indeed it is making me question the wisdom of continuing doing shows at the present time. What do you think? I will appreciate some feedback.

Continuing my theme of Heritage Woodcare - did you know that it is great at removing bitumen. I have used it myself to take off the bitumen from my wood floor where it has been used to stick down the parquee tiles and has squeezed up between them. I also had a customer who told me he had used it to take bitumen off his leather car seats.(the road had been resurfaced and somehow he had managed to get it on his trousers and then transferred it to his beige leather car seats!)

This is the first of my weekly tips.
