How can I clean and polish my wood furniture and floors

Recently I have told you how to clean and polish wood floors using Heritage Woodcare. Heritage Woodcare is a long established polish with many uses other than cleaning and polishing wood floors.

Manufactured in their Dublin facility by Drigate Products, Heritage Woodcare is based on a traditional 19th Century recipe that was known only to the grandmasters of the furmiture trade. Thanks to much research, helped by enlightened technology, this recipe has now been updated to make it suitable for modern materials.

It is used exactly the same as for your wooden floors. Take your bottle and give it a good shake, pour some into a container, soak any soft, clean cloth in your polish, squeeze and wring your cloth out and pour what is left in your container back into your bottle. You are now ready and all you have to do is wipe!
Heritage Woodcare works by taking off all the build-up of silicones, waxes, grease and grime and will also take off most white marks, ring marks and water marks.A heavy build-up of polish and the previously mentioned marks may require more than one application but maintenance cleaning is accomplished in one application and does not require buffing up.
This makes it simpler and easier than wax polishes and so much more versatile.Heritage Woodcare is suitable for use on wood furniture as well as wood floors.

How do I clean and polish my wood floors?

In my last post I told you what to use to clean and polish your wood floors. I recommended Heritage Woodcare(this is sometimes known as Celtic Woodcare) and said that I will tell you how to use it and also where you can buy it.

To use it is very easy. First of all you need to sweep your floor to remove all the loose bits. Give your bottle a really good shake, pour some into a container, take any soft, clean cloth, soak it in your polish, squeeze and wring your cloth out and return any polish in your container to your bottle. You are now ready, put your cloth on the bottom of a brush or mop and wipe. It is as simple as that. Wipe over all the floor, paying special attention to marks. When you have done all the floor you have finished. You do not need to dry or buff up! That is the job done! I said it was easy.

How do I clean and polish my wood floors?

Are you, like me, feeling that now that all the visitors have gone or are about to go, we can now get down to doing all the clearing up. Whilst I have enjoyed the Christmas break and being surrounded by my family, it is going to be great to get back to "normal"

The first jobs I need to do are the floors. There is not goimg to be much of a problem in doing them. Basically it is a question of motivation. The kitchen floor is tiled so I will scrub that and dry it as I go along. No problems but a bit of time and oomph!

The lounge and hall floors should take less time even though there is more area. Being wood parquet floors , it is a question of sweeping to remove all the loose bits and then using my Heritage Woodcare.
In my next post, I will tell you how to go about using it and where you can get it!

How can I keep warm in cold weather and relieve aches and pains?

Have you been following the weather forecasts? We are about to have a return of the cold snap we had before Christmas and means we will need to keep ourselves warm. This is where those nice people at Paston Crafts come in with their Heat Retaining Cushions and their Microwarm Heatwraps

Are you outdoors at all or needing something warm to sit on? Try the Heat Retaining Cushions, These are also called Self Heating Cushions. These work by retaining the body's own heat. effectively insulating the body. You can sit on them, use them at your back or neck or. what a lot of people do, put them underneath your jumper when you go out to keep your back warm. They can be used on the go as these are NOT microwaved so use them in your car or caravan, or on long coach journeys. You can also use them at home and because they are so light, you can use them in aircraft.

Have you tried the Microwarm Heatwraps? These are recommended by physiotherapists, doctors, osteopaths etc. You need to heat your heatwrap in your microwave on full power for 2 or 3 minutes depending on the power of your microwave. If you are cold these will really keep you warm and are often used by exhibitors at outdoor events for that purpose. I did that myself and my demonstration Heatwraps were always being asked for by my colleagues. You can also use them if you have aches and pains. Having heated your heatwrap, apply it to where you have aches, etc. and the heatwrap gives you gentle heat treatment which is drug free pain relief. Another way to use your heatwrap is in bed instead of a hot water bottle. Not only is it safer than a hot water bottle as you do not need to fill with boiling water but it will retain heat for longer

what is the best and easiest way to clean and polish my wood furniture and floors? part three

I have now introduced you to Heritage Woodcare (also known as Celtic Woodcare) and have told you how to use it. In this post I am going to tell you where to use it!

As it's name implies, Heritage Woodcare is ideal for wood so use it on wood furniture, wood floors (laminate and natural), wood panelling on walls, banister rails, etc. Heritage Woodcare cleans, polishes, conditions and protects your wood! You can, in fact, use it on any wood product that has been treated (painted, varnished, waxed, oiled, french polished, etc) , it is not recommended for use on untreated wood.

Heritage Woodcare is ideal for use in your kitchen as it removes grease, grime and water marks. Use it regularly on your cupboards, cooker hood etc. and your kitchen will remain grease free and clean. If you have a build-up of grease (on your cooker hood, etc.), when preparing your cloth, squeeze it out but don't wring it out. Apply to the grease last thing at night, do this for about a week and your Heritage will penetrate and soften the grease and will just wipe it off.

Heritage Woodcare is also ideal for cleaning, polishing and protecting marble

Hard plastics (tv's, computers, UPVC windows, etc) Heritage Woodcare is ideal for use on hard plastics as it cleans and polishes hard plastics. You can also use it on tv and monitor glass screens but will need to buff up afterwards. Do NOT use on plasma screens

Heritage Woodcare is also ideal for use on painted metal (car bodies, kitchen white goods, etc.) Do ensure that car bodywork has been washed in order to remove gravel and other sharp objects prior to using Heritage to prevent scratching,

What is the best and easiest way to clean and polish my wood furniture and floors? part 2

In my previous post I introduced you to Heritage Woodcare.

Made by Drigate Products in their Dublin facility, Heritage Woodcare (sometimes known as Celtic Woodcare) is a superb product and is very easy to use. You simply take your bottle, give it a really good shake, pour some polish into a container, soak your soft, clean cloth in the polish, squeeze and wring your cloth out and return what is left in your container back into the bottle. Then you just wipe and do not need to buff up.

Heritage Woodcare takes off the build-up of silicones, waxes, grease and grime and will also remove most white heat marks, ring marks and water marks. If there is a heavy build-up,more than one application may be needed. In the case of water marks, etc. wipe the whole surface of your furniture to keep it even. Do this 2 or 3 times per week for 2 or 3 weeks and you should see some movement in the marks.

Heritage Woodcare is ideal for use on wood furniture, wood floors. kitchens, etc.

What is the best and easiest way to clean and polish my wood furniture and floors?

Recently I have been telling you about Heritage Leathercare. In this post I will tell you about it's "sister" product, Heritage Woodcare

Heritage Woodcare is a twenty-first century superior product based on a nineteenth century secret formula known only to the grandmasters of the furniture crafts. The constant searching for absolute perfection in the preservation, cleaning and polishing of wooden furniture between rival grandmasters can still be seen today when looking at many priceless antiques. In order to get the desired result, these grandmasters would spend hours and sometimes days working on a single article.

Few people today have the time or patience of these grandmasters so after much comprehensive research, helped by enlightened technology this age-old formula has been updated to produce Heritage Woodcare, giving the same outstanding results in a fraction of the time.

How do I clean and rewax a wax jacket?

I have been contacted by a customer asking for information on rewaxing a wax jacket. Apparently his jacket is showing its age but is comfortable and he would like to be able to carry on using it.

This is a comparatively simple job. If the jacket has marks on it, take a damp cloth soaked in soapy water and wipe. This should clean your jacket. Make sure your jacket is completely dry, take your sponge (provided), load by wiping over the surface of your Heritage Leathercare, remove any surplus by wiping on the edge of your container and then apply to your jacket by wiping in circular motions. Apply very sparingly.
Your jacket will be clean and rewaxed and will remain water resistant.

What is the best and easiest way to look after my leather (part three)

Having now introduced you to Heritage Leathercare (sometimes known as Celtic Leathercare) and told you how to use it I thought I should tell you where to use it. The obvious start is leather furniture.

Furniture Leather seating, whether in a domestic setting, semi-domestic setting (care homes, etc.) or a commercial setting (hotels, etc.) will all benefit from the use of Heritage Leathercare, the only difference will be in how often it is used. In a family setting, it is recommended that your Heritage is applied 3 or 4 times per year. However, where the furniture is likely to come in for heavier use, then your Heritage will need to be used more frequently, monthly or even weekly, especially where the look of the furniture is important (hotels, office foyers, etc.) As the polish is colourless, it can be applied to any colour.

Car upholstery Heritage Leathercare is ideal for use on leather upholstery.Use more frequently than domestic furniture due to more rapid fluctuations in temperature, about 4 to 6 times per year. If your leather is tired and neglected, initially you will have to use your Heritage more frequently, weekly for the first few weeks, then monthly for the next 3 months before moving to the normal maintenance programme.

Clothing (including motor cycle leathers) Heritage Leathercare is highly recommended for these items. Use as often as required, especially with leathers as the cleaning and water resistance is important.

Boots and Shoes Again Heritage Leathercare is highly recommended. Use as often as required. Cleaner and quicker than conventional polishes.

Bags, handbags and suitcases (etc.) highly recommended.

Wood Heritage Leathercare is recommended for use on wood where a colourless polish is needed. (wooden armrests on leather furniture, etc) Requires buffing up after application.

Heritage Leathercare is NOT recommended for use on SUEDE, NUBUCK or NAPPA leathers

Heritage Leathercare can be obtained online, visit www.heritagepolish.com/shop/heritage-leathercare/cat_4.html

What is the best and easiest way to look after my leather? (part two)

In my last post I introduced you to Heritage Leathercare (sometimes known as Celtic Leathercare)
Heritage Leathercare is a wonderful product that cleans (most colours), feeds, polishes and protects leather, leaving a water resistant finish and is so easy to use.

Take the sponge provided and load by wiping across the surface of your Leathercare. You then just wipe your leather in circular motions, making sure that your Leathercare has been applied sparingly and has not left a greasy finish, If the finish is greasy you will need to buff up, otherwise there is no need to. That is the job finished!
On white and similar colours you may need to wash your leather first. Using pure soap (Simple soap, baby soap, soap flakes, etc.), clean off any build-up. Make sure your leather is totally dry and then wipe as per the instrictions.

Heritage Leathercare leaves your leather more supple and with a shine and protection unsurpassed by many modern polishes not containing our traditional ingredients.

What is the best and easiest way to look after my leather?

I have just been looking online at leather products. There are some wonderful items out there, beautiful and practical! However, they all have one thing in common, irrespective of product and price - to get the best out of leather you need to look after it, feed it, clean it, condition it. That way your leather will continue to serve you and you will extend the life of your item.
Nothing does this better than Heritage Leathercare (sometimes known as Celtic Leathercare)

Made in their Dublin facility by Drigate Products, Heritage Leathercare is a traditional 19th Century leather balsam, containing original, old fashioned ingredients (including beeswax) and is well known in the trade for revalising and protecting leather (and also the stitching)
Due to its ease of use and outstanding results, many craftspeople and professionals connected with the leather trade (car enthusiasts, book restorers, furniture dealers. butlers, etc.) testify to it's tried and tested formula.

Results obtained with Heritage Leathercare are instantaneous and long lasting, leaving old, tired leather revitalised and supple.Newer leather products also benefit, keeping that "as new" look and suppleness for longer and having a shine and protection unsurpassed by many modern polishes not containing our traditional ingredients.
